In the evolution of a Hollywood nightclub named Hyde and iconic building along the Sunset Strip once known as the Coconut Teaser, SBE expands its VIP lounge brand to include a proper kitchen helmed by former Top Chef alum and dining room penned by the designer of LA's Soho House. The result is a design triumph in a freestanding restaurant space with showy valet and grand entrance that's one of the most staffed restaurants you'll find in the city. Inside, a living room aesthetic prevails with stunning hardwood floors, wood-paneled walls and leather-tufted banquettes that wrap-around a circular fireplace feature. Walls of glass frame a new, outdoor terrace that more protected from traffic noise and likely to be ground-zero for an all new generation of Hyde kids.
The Food
Upon first sight the menu by Top Chef alum Chris Crary reminded us of Gjelina in Venice - with its long list of invariable small and larger plates that include herb focaccia, heirloom panzanella, shrimp toast and charred broccolini with burrata. Standout larger plates include a great veal tartare, fired chicken sliders, squid ink linguine and braised beef cheek on celery root puree.
