The Scene:
For most of the year it's just a vacant storefront on the main drag of Punta del Este's La Barra. But by early December the beefy Argentinean bouncer has been installed at the door as well as his sexy companion in her slinky slip dress. They're guarding the hottest lounge and dance club in Uruguay, which is no more than a cozy single-floor club with red-and-black booths attended by the local model-set. Unlike its sister-club in Buenos Aires, the beach-outpost of this slick chain is still well in its prime. The crowd is top-notch on most nights given the strict door policy that keeps the blazer-wearing tourists and dressed-up teenagers away. The music includes vintage cuts of electronic music and well as Latin tracks and global beats. During peak season, between Christmas and New Year's, try to arrive early or at least with some eye-candy to secure prompt entry.

Only open during high-season, be persistent upon arrival and don't get stacked at the end of a pointless line. Spend your cash wisely, if you pay on the first night you'll likely pay on every visit.
