It wasn't long ago that the façade of the Amfora Hotel resembled a Communist version of The Shining more than a hip vestibule of beachside chic. But after a stunning renovation and virtual reinvention, gone is the acre-size indoor pool and institutional locker rooms that was always empty and in its place a family-minded resort pool and adult playground of lounge and beach clubs. <br /><br />Located on a private terrace of Maestral restaurant, the hotel calls it a yacht club when in fact the harbor is more suitable to paddleboats and motorized rafts. Splash is a lively beach bar located in a natural pine grove that connects the Amfora to the main village of Hvar. The bar features an airy design of weatherized rattan furnishings with crisp white pillows and oversize loungers overlooking the tranquil bay home to the Amfora beach club and chicer Banj des Bains. The bar is a popular stopping point for lazy lunches receding to an après-beach scene around 4pm as a DJ is recruited to spin gentle lounge tunes for flirty singles who bust the occasional dance move. <br />
