Located on Sussex Street in prestigious Darling Park, Sepia is the invention of former-Tetsuya chef Martin Benn offering an elegant seafood dining room that's currently one of the hottest in Sydney. The space utilizes a color palette of black and white for a deco-inspired space divided between a small lounge bar and main dining room. Emerald green velvet and geometric marble floors frame a martini-drinking crowd at the bar before and after dinner in a dining room concealed behind mahogany and glass paneling. The main eatery seems to sprawl on forever, defined by now familiar black and white floors and paneled columns facing floor-to-ceiling windows.
The Food
A seafood-minded menu begins with braised eggplant with chickpea puree, marinated Yellow Fin Tuna with rhubarb or Green Lip Abalone with ginger-scented egg tofu. Main course evolved from a vegetarian-minded roasted pumpkin with morel mushrooms to roasted snapper with octopus risotto, Murray Cod with dill pollen butter or duck breast with fennel salad. Saturdays feature a 9-course tasting menu with ala carte option limited to all other nights of the week.
