While most visitors who come to Mexico City spend their time hunting down the museums and civic spaces home to the works of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo, in-the-known art collectors instead flock to spaces like Kurimanzutto located just outside Polanco in San Miguel Chapultepec where this former timber yard is now home to a collection of spatial and mixed media modern arts. The building was originally built in 1949 and used a s a working saw mill for most of its existences, at least until the owners of this coveted art institutions decided to make it a landmark of mid-career working artists rising through the ranks of the local art circle.

Tips

Exhibitions of rotating Mexican and Central American artists last anywhere between six to nine weeks and are open for general viewing from 11am-6pm daily.

Last Word

In addition to the contemporary art gallery, the space is also home to a bookshop and theater where live art performances and lectures take place at 7-8pm on a weekly basis.
