With its eerie taxidermy tucked behind glass casement windows, the age-old signage of Stern Graveur greets guests to this revamped Paris café landmark along Passage des Panoramas. Once a bespoke printer for Paris aristocracy, today Caffe Stern has evolved into an all-day supper scene with interiors penned by Philippe Starck - without being too Philippe Starck. Stern's signature walnut paneling remains intact as well as its gilded revival accents that are now surrounded with long, plush banquettes, Murano glass chandeliers and walls of black-and-white postcard images.

The Food

As good for afternoon coffee as a late-night supper or evening cocktails, Stern’s new menu caters to the all-day appetite with a menu born of Italy and translated with a brasserie accent. Dishes of branzino carpaccio, Venetian-style cichetti, tomatoes in creamy burrata and whimsical salads prelude mushroom risotto, truffle linguine and spaghetti carbonara. Main course is a more adventurous selection of regional Italian cuisine from langoustine-stuffed involtini, steamed lobster curry and vitello tonnata.

Last Word
