It's managed to defy LA's boom and bust restaurant cycles even from a forgettable location along Melrose Avenue near Hancock Park. A freestanding, semi-architectural structure stands out against all worthy restaurant competitors in town, even without the prerequisite Edison lights and rustic-boho design that in almost every other one fo them. Instead, Providence is a bespoke restaurant space that wouldn't look out of place in San Francisco or New York, beginning with the formal host that strides through the regal main dining room with its painted wall covers and royal blue club chairs that are as comfortable as they are attractive.

The Food

A weekday lunch and daily dinner menu offers chef Michael Cimarusti’s impeccable seafood personations with evening prix-fix offerings that vary from $110 to $210 depending on the depth of your menu. A selection of mostly “wild-caught, sustainable products, from American waters” yields dishes like spiny lobster ravioli, uni with scrambled eggs, striped bass with brown butter and foie gras with sour plum.
