Located on an upper level of the Landmark Mall in Hong Kong, L’ Atelier de Joel Robuchon ranks as one of the city’s most awarded eateries. With locations in Tokyo, Las Vegas and Paris some might think it a superfluous dining choice in a city ripe with great dining. Divided between the more casual L’Atelier that’s built around a circular working kitchen and the rooftop L’Jardin that faces an urban garden; the latter is the more formal of the two with white-glove service and romantic red-and-black décor privy to posh business dinner and handholding couples.
The Food
Open for lunch and dinner, L’ Jardin dining begins with a two-handed breadbasket that was actually one of our favorite parts of the entire experience. A less-than-perfect terrine of foie gras is just one of the French minded starters that include King crab and avocado salad, pan-seared scallops with green curry and rather incredible pan a la tomate with Iberian ham. Standout entrees are often the most simple like Les Spaghettis with poached egg and sea urchin, free-range quail with foie gras, pan-seared Wagyu with arugala and steak tartare with French fries.
