It use to be called the Silver Spoon, a dive diner with even grittier juke box bar where hairy gay men and ex-pats would drink away the night amongst Petula Clark anthems. Then came the wrecking ball and subsequent rebuilding with the architectural flare of an elongated roofline and steel beams that allow for walls of glass that open to an exaggerated terrace and familiar parking lot. The décor is beach casual, like the type of seafood and lobster shacks you find on the drive to Montauk at the end of Long Island infused with Eames-style wood chairs, oversize dishtowel napkins and communal vibe that's surprisingly unpretentious despite the restaurant's foodie pedigree.

The Food

With a kitchen team that includes former chefs of Providence, one of LA’s most awarded eateries, comes the type of fresh ingredient-driven seafood eatery LA has always lacked. A menu of feel-good Northeastern beach favorites begins with a full raw bar and selection of steamed seafood options like the classic shrimp cocktail, lobster and crab. More curated appetizers include Josephine’s clam cakes, LA’s best grilled calamari and deviled oysters ala grandma’s secret recipe. Main course includes hake-infused fish stew, fired clams wild white Mexican shrimp and shellfish marinara as well as a bone-in rib eye and filet mignon for non-fish eateries.

Last Word

Providence chefs crate casual seafood market eatery along bustling stretch of Weho’s Santa Monica Boulevard.
