North of the Montauk Highway off the main highway to Sag Harbor, a speedy rural road yields to an aristocratic lane leading to the gleaming white 19th Century Greek revival inn planted square in the middle of a one-acre working farm. A glimpse of what could be the poshest hotel in the Hamptons to date, the property is also home to Topping Rose House restaurant led by Top Chef judge Tom Colicchio. A wrap-around porch leads to an aqua-blue bar with double fireplaces and video art installation. The dining room is trimmed in white wainscoting that contrasts the black lacquered Windsor chairs and industrial lighting picked by Champalimaud interior design that also penned LA's Bel-Air Hotel.

The Food

A uniquely all-year Hamptons eatery offers menu conceived by Tom Colicchio and his day-to-day chef de cuisine Ty Kotz. Dinner begins with dishes like burrata with braised zucchini, heartier crispy zucchini blossoms or seasonal greens all of which are grown in the garden. Pasta course is a divine selection of traditional spaghetti with tomato and bottarga, sweet corn agnolotti or squid ink linguine with stewed cherry tomatoes. Main course leads to dishes like striped bass with seasonal truffles, spice roasted lobster with saffron and fennel or grilled lamb loin with eggplant.
