It doesn't look like much from the outside of its Davies Street location, exposed wooden windows with bistro curtains and steady stream of ill fitting suits flowing out of its doors. Inside is a different story, however, offering a deco-Italian dining hall divided between two separate rooms in addition to a secluded private conference area. Ornate silver serving dishes are carried like crown jewels by a white-coated staff of dignified male servers scouring the restaurant. Golden wood paneling and creamy ivory fabrics lines the front 'Venetian' dining room, overlooking the street and offering the perfect setting for a London lunch. The rear dining area is a bit more cool and casual, with larger tables and bustling vibe as patrons pass through to the rear bar and downstairs bathroom facilities. On a good day you'll spot London's it-crowd including David Furnish and Sienna Miller, on an off-day you'll spot city boys and Russian hookers making the most of their midday appointments.

The Food

For many it’s the most expensive meal they will ever eat. Even if it's the last pound you ever spend, all meals should begin with a signature bellini or French martini whipped up by an efficient barman. A leather-bound menu with fine grain paper is presented containing a daily menu that stretches over two pages. Differing from many fine restaurants, there is a lot of variety on the menu including a lengthy appetizer selection of fresh crab claws, steak tartare and seafood salad with grilled octopus. The pasta course is an indulgence with delicate raviolis, lobster penne and stuffed cannelloni that serve Italy proud. By the time the main courses arrive most guests are thoroughly satiated, try for something lighter like the grilled whitefish or fluffy chicken scaloppini served with button mushrooms. Dessert includes a various baked tortes and tiramisu in addition to sorbets and a wicked cookie plate.

Last Word

Perhaps the best dining experience in London, this posh Venice import lures London jetset for intimate society lunches and celebratory dinners.
