Located adjacent to the Moreno Hotel in San Telmo, this deconstructed dining room has brought a fashionable edge to a neighborhood that use to be known as the roughest in town. On first sight it reminded us of a boutique version of the casual Faena eateries, a stunning design framed within what is actually a working wine merchant is suspended in a crimson space with walls lined in shiny glass wine cellars and shelving. The main dining room has a brasserie feel with a tango backbeat, defined by a wrap-around banquette that hugs the main room with bistro seating and prominent wine bar elevated in the center that doubles as a cool lounge scene come 1am in San Telmo.
The Food
An eclectic Argentine-Italian menu starts off with thinly sliced beef Carpaccio topped with arugula and shaving of cheese, eggplant Parmesan or savory stuffed mussels. Salad options include classic burrata or veggie spin on the fritto misto followed by a well-orchestrated pasta course with squid ink risotto or seafood penne. Main course includes a selection of grilled meats and fish as well as late-nights ala carte menu of on the fly sandwiches and wood-oven specialties.
