Situated on the lower-level, slightly removed annex of the V&A Waterfront, Sevruga is the sophomore eatery of the Beluga family of restaurants that offer posh, upscale, party-minded dining rooms in Cape Town. A low-flung waterfront space is situated behind an expansive terrace covered in white umbrellas and archways leading to the main dining room. Inside, an architectural palette of glassy walls and exotic wood paneling frames a dramatic bar area ignited by pendant chandelier and black décor with plush finish. An exposed wine cellar surrounds the main dining room with its regal Versace-style chairs and darker lighting perfect for lively weekend dinner and social outings.
The Food
A meat and seafood-inspired menu begins with grilled baby calamari with lemon reduction, risotto ball with truffle aioli and flambéed duck livers with spicy tomato fondue. Locally sourced seafood dishes of linefish with lemon and onion salsa, tempura batter sole and large langoustines are nothing short of sublime and present a healthful alternative to the kitchen’s decadent lamb arm with crisp risotto croquettes, fillet rouge with pommes and truffle fillet with mushroom cannelloni.
Last Word
