More institution than eatery, Nick and Toni's is an East Hampton right of passage located just north of the main village drag. Tucked behind a long driveway under mature shade trees, an elegant outdoor patio offers endless summertime memories laden with laid-back celebrities and well-heeled locals. Inside, a series of small dining rooms interconnect around a small bar and central kitchen with wood-burning oven. During high season a weekend reservation between 8pm and 9pm is one of the most coveted in town, becoming slightly more available in later evening privy to younger diners and yet-to-botox couples.
The Food
Worthy of its cult status, a market fresh menu begins with a treasure trove of salads made of locally sourced lettuces and produce. Seafood appetizers include those that are both friend and grilled, for more health conscious diners. A mostly-Mediterranean-style menu continues with wood-burning pizzas and fresh bread that contain Nick’s infamous wieners. Main course is a medley of land and sea with white fish specialties, grilled fillets and hearty pasta dishes for true vegetarians.
