restaurants

Acre is one in the growing trend of farm-to-table restaurants in San José del Cabo, all built around or part of the extensive local farmland. The restaurant here is just one of several attractions: yoga, hiking, even a dozen tree houses where guests can stay the night are part of the complex. It's a beautiful and romantic property located off the beaten path and well worth going out of the way to discover. Like the food, the fixtures are sourced locally: furnishings, dishes and lighting are all provided by local artisans. The aesthetic is wholesome and appealing: simple designs, clean lines and a welcome lack of clutter or distraction. The open kitchen provides an infusion of energy and drama, an appealing peek behind the scenes to where the magic happens.

The Food

Chef Kevin Luzande blends local ingredients with global cuisine influences, to create a menu that is all about compelling tastes. “Baja's Bounty” is the overall theme and it's delivered on by a strong selection of seafood favorites, including grilled fish pibil tacos and lobster agnolotti. There's a tasting menu that allows a full sampling. The full service bar is stocked to a high standard and the bartenders are skilled at preparing a variety of specialty cocktails. Beer and wine menu offers high quality options chosen to complement the meals. Service is friendly and somewhat languid, in keeping with the dreamy surroundings.

Last Word

Acre delivers on its promise of infusing global fine dining themes with fresh local ingredients and an enthusiastic boutique resort attitude.
