nightlife

It’s name stands for the former-Hungarian cultural ministry of East Germany, located within a dramatic multilevel complex in Berlin’s Mitte district.  Measuring in at just under 20,000-sqaure foot of space, a deconstructed design means that patrons get easily lost amongst the three bars, on-site restaurant and rotating art program that attract a bohemian crowd of artists and amateur collectors to the space. The main bar, however, is one of our favorite spaces with its unassuming style, tattooed bartenders and ceiling artwork display of neon lights that reflect off the high-gloss floor. The restaurant is better than you might expect of a nightlife venue, orchestrated in a retro cool galley-style dining room of high banquettes with menu of grille octopus, squid-ink risotto and perfect lamb chops.

Tips

Former-Communist landmark offers multi-venue art and nightlife collaborative with live music and on-site restaurant for boho-elite in Berlin’s Mitte.
