For three-quarters of the year it's a slab of oceanfront concrete that sits empty with its glass-enclosure and empty bar that alludes to the dance spirits of warmer, busier months. Located along the rear of Hotel Raya on a pretty bluff of grassy hilltop and row of sunloungers with colorful umbrellas, this makeshift dance floor comes to life from mid-July through August as the property and its famous owner Myrium hosts a summer time dance venue that rocks the island.
Popular with the passing yachts of such illustrious Italians as Cavalli or Dolce & Gabbana, summer sees the Hotel Raya comes into its own as the interior lobby area echoes with vacationers and jetsetters that lounge amongst the outdoor terrace or take a late dinner before heading to the lower-level dance space with its outdoor bar and moody candlelight under the Aeolian night sky.
The crowd is one of the most upscale and impromptu you'll find in any hotel lounge or nightclub mixing a quaff fashion crowd with stylish Brits and Italians that come year after year to what is one of Italy's last jetset frontiers to be purged into mass tourism.
Tips
Only open from late-July through August, the disco is a nightly celebration of what places like Capri and Positano were once like summers ago before the tourist masses. Expect a VIP crowd and dress to impress, as Myrium isn’t afraid to tell anyone what she thinks.
