Navigating the poorly marked streets of Jose Ignacio is no easy task; especially with a few capirinhas one has inevitable consumed after a day at the beach. The seaside architecture of Jose Ignacio is unlike anything you've seen; modern wooden beach houses often perched atop stilts and painted in bold tropical colors. This lively restaurant bar operates as a restaurant for most of the day, located along the entrance to Brava Beach that's one of the town's largest and most popular strips of sand. Its exposed open-air architecture is literally on the beach, offering a daytime gathering point for surfing locals and ladies looking to escape the intense rays of the afternoon sun (and score some booze). There's even a neighboring Lacoste boutique offering preppy outerwear and hip local scene. By night the restaurant comes alive, as the bar takes on an identity of its own anytime after 10pm. Light groove music, often spun by local deejays, fuels a seductive crowd of semi-singles congregating within the inside bar or along the patio and beach. The bar makes a fine version of the capirinha as well as a great fruit daiquiri, nicely accompanied by a platter of sushi or appetizers from the adjacent restaurant's clay oven.
Tips
There are two peak-times at the bar, namely from 3pm-6pm and 11pm-1am. Arrive anytime before 10pm and expect to be greeted by overdressed American tourists with guidebook and map in hand.
