The Scene:
It's not your usual dance hall that vibrates till 3am with Usher tracks and Mary J love anthems; this upscale cocktail lounge lures dressed-up locals and occasional celebrity for its popular lineup of weekend dance events. The space reminds us of the oversize dance palaces of NYC's Meatpacking District in its infancy, with dance floors that took till 1am to fill-up and over-the-top Moulin Rouge decor that mixes heavy drapery with ruby-red lighting. Native design elements like tumbled-stone walls and saloon-style barstool seating around the bar let you know that you're still in the Northwest, but with a stiletto and jeans clientele of revelers still drinking cosmos and requesting their favorite 'Umbrella' anthem for the umpteenth time. Weekends offer two longstanding events including Friday's Sensual and Saturday's Rockstar offering a mash-up of hip-hop and reggae hits to a mostly downtown clientele of salacious singles.
