The Place:
The Eldridge
The Scene:
As we all watch Butter start to melt, Matt Levine is bringing on the butler bling at his latest NYC VIP lounge. The interior club space feels like an art gallery dipped in gold with its exposed brick walls accented by hand-stamped gold-fleck floors and long leather banquettes privy to posh posing in Lanvin. The guest list is the toughest in town, an assemblage of New York's most demanded partygoers and friends of the owner that are rumored to have been given laser-engraved entrance cards in addition to a requiring a reservation from everybody.
Guests are ushered into the main club by suited chaperones who assist in securing seating and personal butler. The space dazzles under an oak-plank ceiling with tigerwood bar and infinity mirrors built around an "endless chandlier." Instead of the usual VIP section, guests like Kate Moss, Lydia Hearst and Mariah Carey will be clumped together with diligent butlers roaming the room to fill requests from the cocktail menu created by London's Charlotte Voisey of Apartment 195. Although bottle service is not mandatory, with drink prices ranging from $20-$40, it may be the cheaper option at the end of a booze-filled party night.
JetSet Tips:
Monday nights feature DJ tunes spun to classic film noir screened against the walls of the club.
