Four Seasons, Montage, Ritz ready for Cabo

November 14, 2016 03.02 PM

On the southern tip of the Californian peninsula, Cabo beckons as an ever-broadening luxury getaway just two hours from LA. Already equipped with posh outposts of Rosewood's Las Ventanas, One & Only Pamilla and Auberge's Esperanza that have defined its last decade of luxury accommodations, a change is on the horizon that will alas elevate this Mexican getaway beyond its booze cruises and spring break notoriety.

In 2018, Four Seasons (pictured) will arrive with all new Costa Palmas, a beachfront property set on a 2-mile stretch of powdery-white coastline along the Sea of Cortez. The posh 145-room property, once rumored to become an Aman, will feature an architectural compound with multiple pools, full-service spa, members-only beach, and Robert Trent Jones II golf course. Anchoring the property are a series of private residences and international marina that can accommodate yachts up to 250 feet long complete with yacht club, marina village, boutiques and cafés.

Not the only luxury hotel opening on the Sea of Cortez, Montage Los Cabos is set within the new enclave of Maravilla Los Cabos. The 122-room property features 52 private residences overlooking a 39-acre white sand beach with offshore diving and snorkeling considered the best in the region. Montage Los Cabos will be the first international destination for Montage Hotels & Resorts, anticipated to open late 2017. Also look for The Ritz Carlton and posher Ritz-Carlton Reserve to open closer to San Jose Del Cabo, while Auberge's Chileno Bay Resort brings a more youthful boutique resort to one of Cabo's best beaches with Starwood's Solaz Montage and Nobu Hotel Los Cabos not far behind.
