Buy your way into SF, LA’s top restaurants

October 08, 2014 09.18 AM

While Opentable has long since conquered the restaurant reservations world, Table 8 is a new reservations partnership between select ‘hard-to-book’ eateries that share their last-minute bookings for those willing to pay a premium. The reservation fee is shared equally 50/50 between Table 8 and its selection of eateries, usually priced anywhere between $15-$30 as well as more advance reservations that are even free of charge. The online platform is easy to use and similar to other table booking sites and preferential to restaurant owners that often face numerous nightly no-shows via other booking engines. In terms of locations, rollout cities only include SF and LA for now with immediate plans for Chicago, Las Vegas and New York. As for restaurant selection on Table 8, SF offered same-day reservations for more traditional favorites like Slanted Door and Spruce with better table options for parties of 2 than 4 or 6 with a $25 flat fee. LA had far more options including hotspots like Bestia and Republique offering prime 8pm reservations for 4 people priced at $25.
