Every year there seems to be a new hotspot hotel that defines hipster Montauk, this year it's Montauk Beach House that's perhaps the town's best debut to date. Chris Jones and Larry Siedlick oversee an ambitious design property located within the former-Ronjo Motel that's replaced its Polynesian phantoms with a sophisticated, artistic narrative of reclaimed hardware and industrial undertones conceived by local artist Walt Lindveld. An expanded lobby infused with light via oversize panes of glass features lofty ceilings, custom artwork and eclectic furnishings that don't feel like your usual seasonal Hamptons hotel. A small café features selection of morning faire as well as light food service throughout the day. Perhaps the biggest amenity is the hotel's Number 50 beach club that offers a half-acre waterfront oasis of double swimming pools and private cabana beds amongst a sandy and teak terrace destination available to hotel guests and private members. Throughout the summer, a daily grill will offer all-day food and cocktail service with DJs spinning the hippest of lounge anthems and pop-up beach boutique by Minnie Rose.
The Room
Montauk’s top design hotel to date offers a total of 33-accomdations in three guest categories that includes entry-level Whitewater Garden rooms with a modest 200-sqaure feet of space but with outdoor gardens with hardwood decks and oversize daybeds that make them feel far larger. Whitewater lofts are upper-level rooms with 11-ft. ceilings and wide-plank flooring with handmade beds and private balconies. Those traveling with a crew can also book into a Bunk Room that accommodate up to six on a modest budget. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Moonlight Suites come with a more evolved design of cast iron bed, windows clad in velvet drapery and wall of mirrors that expand views of the adjacent beach club. The suite’s bathroom is adorned with clubfoot tub and exposed rain shower that complete what could be the nicest room in the most-eastern Hamptons
