Some people were skeptical of the arrival of pricey member's club Soho House's blitz-like expansion that's included Soho House LA, Berlin and now Soho Beach House in Miami. More north than the South Beach staples of Raleigh and W Hotel, the property is housed within the 16-story former-Sovereign Hotel with the silhouette of a chunky lifeguard tower that rises above a wide stretch of oceanfront sand opposite a long and grassy resort deck home to 100-foot pool with tiki-theme bar.
Arrival to Soho Beach House comes by sand or street, the beach club is member's only with loungers and signature beach huts with waiter service and logo-ed wave runners. Inside past the street entrance, art deco meets Miami regency in a drawing room that would make Lily Pulitzer squeal in delight with Art Basel ready art collection and easy access to Ceeconi's open-to-the-public Italian eatery with its antique green-stripped tile floors, Harry's inspired bar and terrace lined in silver buttonwood trees with retractable awning.
The member's only Club Bar is located on the 2nd Floor with design vibe pointed towards 40's Cuba ala distressed wood paneling vintage furnishings and ceiling fans above antique tile floors that extend outside to a stylish smoking garden. Up on the 8th floor, a plunge pool is surrounded double teak loungers and fans above an outdoor bar with Atlantic views at what is easily the hottest new Miami hotel in a decade.
The Room
Soho Beach House is home to a selection of fifty guest rooms arranged over fifteen floors of city and ocean-facing views. Lacking the white lacquer and forced styling of many new Miami hotels, that’s a wink to you Mr. Wanders, Soho Beach House takes a vintage approach to retro-inspired guest space arranged along the beachside, bayside and neighbor-facing exposures of the property. Entry-level Side Rooms feature 350-400 square feet with singular windows and walls of minty green with hearty sofas and tufted ottomans in front of hefty wooden four-post beds. Top of the line Beach side rooms are lavish spaces with colorful mosaic tile flooring with separate living and sleeping areas and wall of glass that opens to private ocean-facing terrace. Style wows everywhere from reclaimed vintage bathrooms to heavy beam ceiling that add a new layer to typical Miami design. Guests are offered access to all membership area of the hotel, in addition to Cowshed Spa that offers barbershop, fitness center and Blowout Bar.
