Business Hotel
After years of being the top business hotel in Mexico City, Four Seasons was immediately displaced with the opening of the new-build 31-story Torre Libertad designed by architect Cesar Pelli near the city's Paseo Reforma. Its location lacks the charm of nearby neighborhoods like Polanco and Condesa, but with a more central address for closing deals, hitting government offices and seeing a lot of the architectural monuments from your own room.
A dramatic entrance near the elaborate Diana Fountain leads to a surprisingly cheerful and bright lobby arranged in Provincial colors of lilac and emerald green covering L-shaped sofas and armless club chairs near wavy glass-panel windows framing city views. At no point does the St. Regis feel like anything but a behemoth international luxury hotel, a St. Regis that could be in almost any global city. Prompt check-in by Swiss-trained staff, dinner in the upcoming J&G by Jean-George and the 15th floor Remede Spa with its infinity pool and skyline views make for seamless business travel without the interruptions of getting to know the city in any way, shape or form.
The Room
A high-rise design means that almost all guest rooms feature some type of city views captured through meticulously conceived architecture by Cesar Pelli. Lacking the grandmotherly décor of most every other Mexico City luxury hotel, rooms at the St. Regis are bright and modern with caramel-color carpeting and rosewood furnishings complimented by silvery-upholstered sofa and club chair. Entry-level Deluxe Rooms come with the hotel’s signature butler who comes to introduce himself on check-in and checkout offering first-day luggage unpacking services and obligatory good-bye tip. Spacious rooms measure at around 550-square feet with marble and onyx bathrooms adorned in regency-style wallpaper and 12-inch inlaid TV. Larger suites boast more extravagant city views and grand living and dining rooms with upgraded furnishings and artwork.
