Waldorf Astoria's ever-expanding hotel group debuts its first ski location with Dakota Mountain Lodge at the base of The Canyons ski resort. A lobby of ebonized wood paneling and sparkling chandeliers deviates from the tumbled-stone norm of Park City architecture, instead lined in oriental carpeting and fluffy upholstered sitting areas where a Hilton sister wouldn't look out of place.Dakota Mountain Lodge is home to SF restaurant offshoot Spruce that's been glammed-up with chocolate mohair walls, white Carrera marble bar, saddle-leather chairs with nail head detailing and Baccarat chandelier dangling from above.
The Room
Entry-level rooms are outfitted with gas fireplaces and marble bathrooms while one-bedroom condo-style suites come with stainless-steel kitchens and stackable washing machines for stink-free final day skiing. The hotel is also home to a newly revamped Golden Door Spa, a more upscale and surprisingly strong version of that ubiquitous chain many snobbier spa lovers would normally shun.
