Ermitage is concealed behind a grand beaux-arts façade with greenbelt views of Ramateulle. Originally a 19th century villa, the facade remains much as before this 3-star family hotel was transformed into the latest Lily Allen and Kate Moss crash pad. Like a South of France version of NY's Hotel Chelsea or LA's Chateau Marmont, a whimsical lobby plays-up retro sex appeal with interior furnishings from 1950's with selection of rare Jean Prouvé and Pierre Paulin where you feel like you could pull a pair of underwear or panties from the cushions. For dinner, 3-star Michelin chef Michel Del Burgos runs the hotel restaurant with a seasonal menu offered in a cozy villa-style dining room or playful outdoor terrace. Afterwards, models and rockers click crystal and hit nose-to-mirror at the Veuve Clicquot bar that bubbles till 4am during high season.

The Room

Frumpy yet incredibly fabulous, no hotel in St. Tropez has mastered vintage chic better than this relative newcomer. A total of 27 rooms feels a bit like staying at David and Elton’s, in a cozy mansion-style hideaway with rooms designed by the owners friends including Marc Newson, Chloe Sevigny, M+M, Christian Louboutin and Olivier Zahm. What do these people know about interior design? Well, a mix of bright Provencal-color walls or all-black feature crushed-velvet sofas and well-stacked bookcases feel like Sex in the City " Paris edition than uber-homey boutique hotel found aplenty in the nearby hills of St. Tropez. Walls are hung with gallery-worthy artwork collected by Andres over the years, including photos by Irina Ionesco and Terry Richardson. Rooms feature full mini-bars and even martinis on demand, but sadly telephone and TV-free. Bathrooms are laid in Tiffany blue tiles with white porcelain tubs and pedestal sinks with chrome detailing.
