Desert Resort

Once the chicest resort in Palm Springs, Riviera was home to the city's top tennis club and namebrand eatery by former-mayor Sonny Bono. Its iconic curved motor court at the corner of Indian Canyon Drive is fresh off another renovation with a manicured courtyard and those signature floor-to-ceiling windows that surround the main lobby. Inside, a two-story reception is a refreshed scene of  circular banquettes with deco-inspired chandeliers and furnishings that wouldn't look out of place at Jonathon Adler's Parker Palm Springs. The design recreates Palm Springs' glamorous connection with '50s Hollywood, with rococo mirrors, Hollywood Regency furnishings and plenty of geometric details. Noble House Hotels, a collection of Seattle and Southwestern hotels and resorts that range between family-minded to stylish boutiques, own the hotel that is their most stylish and ambitious project to date. Sprawling over 24-acres the hotel is home to one of the city's largest tennis clubs with numerous playing courts with staff of professionals. A new restaurant, known as Cantala, is a glam-playground of high-back booths and curved club chairs with tropical accents while more-playful Gypsy Rose Lounge lures singles looking to mix and mingle on late weekend nights.

The Room

A staggeringly large hotel is divided into multiple two-story apartment blocks located around drive-in parking lots, tennis courts and two resort pools. Not unlike the resort remodels witnessed at the nearby Parker and Viceroy, Riviera recreates ‘50s glam on a mass scale with 406 rooms and suites. Entry-level Riviera Kings are arranged within outlying buildings, some louder with street noise than others. Walls are lined in exotic zebra wood wall treatments with oversize King beds with tufted-white headboard outfitted with bicolor white duvet-covers with bold strip. Rooms are lined in geometric carpeting with heavy stain drapes and cream color walls. High-back chairs with small sofa and ottoman sit opposite LCD TV and private lanai or terrace. Upgraded garden-view and pool-view rooms offer exactly that, namely views of a sculpted desert garden or Deep End swimming pool and its assortment of lounging eye candy. Bathrooms are lined in marble floors with deep-basin tubs and separate stall showers in larger rooms. One Bedroom Suites include expanded terraces with private hot tubs and direct access to the main resort pool, expanded entertaining areas with full dining rooms and indoor fireplace. Those looking to hit the main resort pool should seek-out one of the cabanas equipped with mini fridge, LCD TV and sexy lounge area that will make you the center of attention.
