It is billed by its owners as being the first restaurant-club in Saint-Tropez, but Gaio is actually a restaurant, cocktail bar, and club. In fact, at first glance it looks more like a restaurant with its abundance of seating, but the Gaio has not lost any of its club-roots. You will still find the best DJs in the area playing at this famous location so it is perfect for any occasion. The decor is modern but it has an unmistakably 1920s feel that makes the Gaio even more elegant. The original club was opened in the 1960s and was famed for its stunning views from the terrace over the harbour and its rich and famous clientele. Those things haven't changed in the new Gaio, and neither has the owners. It's a new name and a new nightlife concept, but the Gaio is still owned by the Malortigue family. Given its continued popularity and the fact it is now reinvented, you should always make a table reservation before you go.
Tips
Once merely a retro disco in Saint-Tropez, Gaio now offers a Japanese-Peruvian menu by Madrid-chef Luis Arevalo offering grilled seafood, fresh ceviches and innovative raw dishes worth a pre-club splurge.
