Known by many summer local as "The Lunch", this Hampton mainstay is located on a dune-y ocean highway midway between Amagansett and Montauk. A '20 beach shack with rambling additions that include a covered patio and front porch where you'll likely sit-out the up to hour-plus wait for lunch and dinner within the deli-style dining room. Past a front cashier and partially exposed kitchen, a fresh-face staff of L.I. locals and old-school staff who look like the just disembarked from the fishing boats work wooden banquettes for two and four.
The Food
Diets aside, the name Lobster Roll is derived from the open-style sandwich of mayonnaise-topped lobster salad on a traditional hot dog roll accompanied by a small heaping of slaw. Not limited to just lobster rolls, appetizer-size portions of fish n’chips, fried calamari rings and popcorn shrimp sate fried food lovers. Main course is a mix of shrimp scampi, crab-stuffed shrimp or traditional fish platters served on oversize platters. A small dessert menu includes homemade cupcakes, chocolate cake and gooey brownies.
