BOA Steakhouse is hardly a new name to the LA dining scene; having occupied a popular perch along the Sunset Strip at the Grafton Hotel with franchises in Santa Monica and Las Vegas. The famed steakhouse gets the ultimate LA restaurant makeover with a brand new space in the lobby level of a Sunset Boulevard office tower in 2011. No ordinary office tower, the building at the edge of Beverly Hills was recently remodeled with a rooftop outpost of Soho House. Visitors arrive to a valet raceway of eager traffic that honks and hand gestures to those that don't merge into the loading zone in a fast-enough fashion. A bright and airy dining room is poured in industrial concrete floors with freestanding circular booths that levitate above shiny chrome legs. Two-story architecture frees the location from an office park vibe with floor to ceiling windows that open to a massive outdoor space home to a perky and fashionable overflow bar crowd.

The Food

The food of BOA has been honed to steak perfection after many years of operation at its former address. Appetizers like steak tartare prepared tableside, a lumpy crab cake with spicy hearts of palm salad and decadent seafood platter remind guests that the owners also operate the equally-formidable Sushi Roku franchise. Surf n’ Turf specialties include a whole Maine lobster, 40-day dry-aged New York strip and Japanese Wagyu best ordered with a side of truffle cheese fries. The beauty of BOA is its use of indoor and outdoor space that masters a fun happy hour and lively steakhouse concept.
