Originally a team of interior designers that decorated the lavish apartment blocks and high-end homes emerging in the Lebanese capital, Bokja has planted roots in Saifi Village with a quirky design store selling housewares, furniture and '50s inspired collectibles. The store is owned by Hoda Baroudi and Maria Hilri who have a long history of finding unique antiques, vintage furnishings and textiles to which they add their own colorful twist. Saifi is the premiere neighborhood known in Beirut as home to select art galleries, furniture stores and boutiques that attract Beirut's upper elite within a series of storefronts that were formerly occupied by area carpenters.
Tips
Visitors to the store are often surprised at the knowledgeable staff derived from local design and architecture schools to man the boutique.
