London has Harvey Nichols; Paris has Colette and Los Angeles parades its fashion savoir-faire with Maxfield. Upon arrival the store resembles an annex of the Museum of Modern Art complete with sculptures and statuary as well as a fleet of Bentley and Maserati matched only by a Beverly Hills auto dealer. Inside the store offer men and woman’s apparel with everyone from Alexander McQueen to Rick Owens and Dior to Gucci displayed in a whimsical fantasy of warehouse meets Gothic loft space. The clothes are meticulously acquired through an elite staff outfitted in nerdy black-glasses and Thom Brown short suits who know many customers by name and aren't afraid of telling even their super-model clients, "Hey girl, you look fat in that Lanvin."
