Jacques Grange, the Parisian designer responsible for New York's The Mark Hotel and Palazzo Margarita in the south of Italy, is the genius behind Mallorca's new Hotel Mamá. The luxury boutique hotel inhabits a historic 19th century building that's been restored and updated, while infusing the property with Grange's multi-layered Art Deco aesthetic vision. The location is prime, nestled in the historic Plaça Cort in the heart of Palma and only a few minutes' walk from shopping and sightseeing attractions, including Palma Cathedral and Almudaina Palace. The nearest beach is five minutes by taxi, the airport less than 30 minutes away. Hotel Mamá packs substantial benefits within its modest size. A rooftop pool, private cinema with twice-daily screenings and private spa offer conveniences few other boutique-size hotels can match. All guests can book a complimentary 15-minute head massage and gym session. On the premises are Tahini Restaurant, offering fine Japanese cuisine, and Cappuccino Grand Café, which has coffee by day and transforms into a stylish cocktail bar at night.
The Room
Each of the 32 rooms is spacious and elegant, with a retro design vibe that is comfy and welcoming. Somehow the jumble of décor styles and patterns blends into an appealing Art Deco theme. Bathrooms are large and indulgent, with marble-clad baths, separate rain shower and double basin sinks. Amenities include air conditioning, under-floor heating, Wi-Fi, minibar and 24-hour room service.
