Luxury Design
One of the most impressive hotels to debut in Barcelona's Gothic District in the last years, The Serras is a luxury boutique hotel overlooking the city's revitalized Port Vell. A street front terrace offers café scene by late afternoon, framed by double height windows that line the entrance lobby with its raw timber floors and muted mid-century décor. A small mezzanine lures the eyes to an upstairs library lounge for late-night libations or a drink before dinner at the in-house eatery helmed by Michelin chef Marc Gascons. Further guest amenities include a one-room fitness center with handful of mostly cardio-minded machines and rooftop terrace with preening pool and lounge serving all-day menu of tapas and cocktails.
The Room
Known to be the first studio of artist Pablo Picasso, there’s an ample amount of history found in The Serras where a total of 28-guest rooms mix Mediterranean Sea and Merce Street views of the Gothic neighborhood. Design choices like raw wood floors and stark white walls continue in entry-level rooms with alcove bars with Nespresso machine and fluffy beds with TV that elevates from cabinetry. Most rooms feature either freestanding tub or walls of glass that open to compartmental bathrooms with marble basin sinks and decadent rain showers.
