It was the last home of Oscar Wilde and for some it's the only hotel home they could imagine while in Paris. L'Hotel is a quintessential Paris luxury boutique that offers not only the allure of a fabled past but also a grandiose design by Jacques Garcia and Michelin star eatery. In the heart of the Left Bank and main shopping area of Saint-Germain-des-Pres, the hotel was a bohemian stomping ground in the 19th Century before evolving into one of the chicest enclaves of post-war Paris through the 1960s. Today the hotel maintains that artistic flair even amongst its aristocratic mystique that's architecturally defined by a 5-story circular rotunda that rises above the main reception. Garcia's signature look of velvet upholstery, fringe accents and brassy accessories reflect a mix of art nouveau and Victorian elements infused with one of the coolest hotel crowds in the city. Le Restaurant offers a parlous-style eatery with all-day French menu in addition to lively Le Bar with its gentlemanly library feel and weekly live music.
The Room
A grand staircase trimmed in iron traces the spine of the building and links each of the hotels six floors. Entry-level Mignon rooms are modestly sized and exquisitely dressed in bold fabric walls, velvet drapery and double windows that open to Rue de Beaux-Arts. Grand rooms offer larger spaces along the building’s upper floor with intricate wood detailing and marble bathroom with deep soaking tubs. A penthouse is also available with small, private terrace and Victorian drawing room separate from the main sleeping area. Additional amenities include a basement hammam and plunge pool with massage services available upon private arrangement.
