In an offbeat location near the corner of Melrose and Fairfax, Palihouse-owner Avi Brosh pulls out his stylish marker on the former Orbit Hostel to create an urban crash pad with modest prices and relevant modern design. The building is virtually unrecognizable to those that knew it before, clad in reclaimed timber above a gritty intersection that divides fashionable from edgy Melrose.  A single door entrance leads to a small foyer and directly into the main lobby with walls strewn in a montage of vintage oil paintings amongst exposed piping and small lounge arranged in colorful club chairs. Far smaller than Brosh's successful Palihouse in West Hollywood, that's a beacon for Hollywood less paparazzi-hungry celebs, this micro-version features Palikitchen with all-day café adorned in glossy-white industrial chairs and continued eclectic aesthetic of painted tile floors topped with flea market finds of a true design talent.

The Room

A mere 32 rooms are drawn within compact spaces that hover below 300-sqaure feet with choice of ‘Double’ or ‘Queen’ room categories. Views vary from less optimal neighborhood vistas to glimpses of the Hollywood Hills from retrofitted, double-glazed metal windows. Double room overlook a small interior courtyard of overflow lounge seekers, furnished in double twin beds with settee sofa and shower/bath combinations. Queen rooms are optimal for couples with additional private veranda large enough for a couple of friends and bottle of Pinot with some of the best people-watching in the city and incredible prices from a mere $250.
