It's one of the modern world's true wonders; The Palm is an artificial archipelago along the coastal waterfront of the Dubai emirate home to One&Only The Palm opened in late-2010. Unlike the traditional resort properties clustered along the mainland, One&Only offers more of a destination resort setting wedged between the sea and the skyline. Accessed by water taxi or longer limousine ride, visitors arrive to a grand estate of interconnecting 2-story villas of Moorish and Andalusian architecture flanked by a pristine white sand beach and endless palm groves. With a high taste-level, perhaps the best interiors of any Dubai resort, a lobby of marble floors and pure white atrium with hand-carved wood details is cast in sophisticated furnishings and refined indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Floor to ceiling windows and archways face a grand resort deck with B&B Italia inspired outdoor furnishings around an exquisite swimming pool with mosaic tile detailing. At the center of the resort is a destination spa, managed by ESPA, offering spa suites with private gardens and celebrity-caliber gym conducive to wellness getaways.
The Room
An intimate hideaway by Dubai standards, One&Only The Palm is home to just 90 guest rooms arranged within the main tri-level Manor House, six low-rise mansions and four private beach villas. The Manor House is home a contemporary design aesthetic with integrated living and sleeping areas facing walls of glass. Open-flow bathrooms with marble floors and integrated lounge areas offer freestanding tubs and exquisite rain showers. Those on a splurge should look into the low-rise mansion or private beach villas with even more space, outdoor lounges and temperature-controlled private pools sometimes with direct access to the sea.
