One of the most anticipated hotel openings of the last few years in Miami Beach, Edition is the prodigy of Ian Schrager and his partnership with Marriott Hotels. Aimed to be a destination of restaurants, nightlife and spa living in this northern stretch of Miami Beach, Edition features a 1950s hotel complex by Yabu Pushelberg and series of upper-floor residences designed by John Pawson. Utilizing his experiences of creating iconic spaces from the nearby Delano to highly successful Edition London, Schrager curates a voluminous lobby dotted in golden columns and palm trees that maintain the original architecture of the building with cool, modern décor of mostly white silhouettes. Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten headlines the hotel's food offerings with Matador Room - its formal dining room and Market - a gourmet-casual eatery with ceviche bar and woodfire oven. Downstairs is a playful recreation space with bowling alley and ice-skating rink as well as Basement disco that's immediately a local hipster hotspot. Outside, two resort pools compliment a massive resort space that links to the elevated pedestrian promenade connecting to South Beach and private beach club with lounger and waiter service.
The Room
The Miami Beach installment of Edition is home to 294 rooms and 28 private bungalows that exude a serine décor of pale creams, whites and greys with limestone accents, natural woods and refined upholstered pieces. Bathrooms are minimalist spaces with seamless vanities, floating bathtubs in larger room categories and signature bath products. Larger bungalows and suites feature private terraces, two-floor layout and plunge pools. Guest services include an impressive spa with steam rooms, hair salon and 24-hour gym.
