Opened in 2009, Sanatorium makes a cultural statement by showcasing artists looking to state a stand against governmental oppression. Sanatorium was formed by eight artists with different disciplines of sculpture, photography, ceramics and graffiti works performed by Alp Alanbay, Barış İlkhan, Buğra Kulbak,Guido Casaretto, Mehmet Turgut, Osman İlder Yalın, Tunç 'Turbo' Dindaş and Tunca Subaşı. The gallery is a stopping point for those on the Istanbul collector’s circuit looking to scoop up works by artist including an impressive list of Chinese photographers like Li Wei and Pan Yue as well as painter Luo Qing.
