    Given the caliber of locals that summer in Jose Ignacio, it was only a matter of time before a purveyor like Estancia Belcampo that operates a nearby organic farm would make a permanent home just outside the main village. Near the Jose Ignacio roundabout, this casual roadside market and café offers a stylish Mercado façade and grand interiors adorned in industrial detailing, crystal chandeliers and vintage antiques that lends a countryside feel. The Mercado also facilities visits to the nearby farm as well as evening dinners in the countryside and details on the forthcoming estancia that’s in the works.

    Hours can be a bit tricky to predict, as we are convinced no one opens before 9am in Uruguay and that includes the farmers. Plan for a late arrival, no earlier than 11am even during summer.
