In a traditional dining room surrounded in exposed brick walls and thatch ceiling, Lasai is the best presentation of the farm-to-table food movement in Rio today. Simple, urban charm extends from the bare wood floors to eclectic mix of mid-century Brazilian décor of wood tabletops and chairs extends over two floors with rooftop bar overlooking Corcovado in what many consider the best restaurant in Rio since opening in 2014.

The Food

Rafa Costa e Silva and partner Malena Cardiel build a modern culinary destination in Rio’s Botafoga that sources local ingredients from farmers and two of their own local gardens for a daily changing menu at the forefront of the city’s burgeoning farm-to-table movement. A dinner-only service offers two menu selections with various degrees of diner participation in selecting dishes like glazed kobe beef, oxtail chivito, seared local scallops and yams in coconut milk with crispy pancetta.

Last Word

Dynamic duo chefs utilize local, organic gardens for incredible farm-to-table dining experience in cheery Botafoga dining room.
