Away from the mayhem of Playa Brava and the utilitarian eateries of town square, Mostrador Santa Teresita looks like just another Jose Ignacio house if not for the signage and lively porch that is abuzz from morning breakfast to late night supper. Little do most visitors know, this was once a culinary mainstay in the sleepy Jose Ignacio in the 1970s. The latest product of famed Argentine chef Fernando Trocca, the revived communal restaurant features an indoor dining room and terrace that work off an all-day buffet of homemade delicacies in addition to ala carte dishes that vary from morning to night. The crowd includes a quaff and sexy collection of portenos as well as in-the-know visitors that dare to stray away from La Huella.

The Food

A whimsical communal dining room is an ideal backdrop for this casual all-day eatery that offers morning buffet of meats, homemade breads, pastries and ala carte egg dishes made to order. The buffet transitions from day to night as lighter brunch dishes are swapped for more substantial roasted cauliflower to seasonal salads and fruits. Evening offers an array of wood-fire pizzas and grilled dishes from Argentine beef to local fish.

Last Word

Argentine chef Fernando Trocca sets up all-day communal eatery in Jose Igancio that is as charming as it is delicious.
