Located on the mountain in Aspen Highlands, Cloud Nine is our favorite après-ski and lunch haunt in Aspen. Just off the highspeed lift, the chalet is surrounded in an outdoor deck hosted by Veuve Cliquot on select winter weekends. Inside, a main dining room is packed in Alpine inspired décor with rear dining area that feature better views and spaces ideal for larger groups.
The Food
An elegant, well-crafted menu best begins with selection of caviar, gruyere fondue or raclette that’s presented on a per person basis. Appetizers we love include chilled prawns, frisee aux lardons and classic tomato soup followed by daily specials like truffle gnocchi and elk stroganoff. Main course is a bit of land and sea with seared salmon on lentils, cavatelli Bolognese and braised short ribs.
Last Word
During winter high-season, expect the epic champagne showers only after the second, 2pm seating on busier weekends.
