One of the most romantic swathes of the West Village is adorned in pre-war brick buildings covered in intersecting fire escapes and Victorian scones. A series of illuminated windows lead to a one-door glass entrance and into a small bar space presided over by a buttoned-up barman with mustached face and one of the best pours in the neighborhood. A series of simple stools are almost always full meaning its standing room only while waiting for one of the tables in the adjacent dining room with long banquette, painted white brick walls and ceiling strewn in giant orb hurricane lights.

The Food

Meals begin with an incredible mixology menu of drinks like the The Dude with cognac and cream or Lucie Faire with Aperol and lime juice followed by a well-curated wine list. Meals start off with Kumamoto oysters, Hamachi with avocado or gazpacho with parmesan crostini. Cheese and charcuterie platters are large enough for sharing followed by a series of mains from barley risotto with pesto, sea scallops with Maitake mushrooms or strip loin with potatoes and nettles.

Last Word

Elegant, neighborly West Village dining room with spirited bar and boutique dining room.
