  • The Scene:

We knew it as a restaurant called Cavallino once upon a time, tucked within the ground floor of a quaff Chelsea townhouse today home to the marvelous Italian eatery known as Sette. A couture dinner crowd arrives up the staircase entrance with its immediate hostess booth and two windows tables that look down the main dining room. Owned by former racing jockey Frankie Dettori, asymmetrical walls are forgiven amongst the wide-plank oak floors and lipstick red chairs that are somewhat muted by the crisp white tablecloths and black-and-white artwork.

  • The Food:

An antipasti menu yields treasures like asparagus "alla parmigiana" with poached egg, cuttlefish and langoustine salad or grilled squid, sweet chili and mixed leaf salad. Linguini with lobster or the simple pappardelle with broad beans, peas and Pecorino cheese are not to be missed even if only for a second course. Mains include a grilled Dover sole, grilled lamb chop with aubergine and calves liver with butter and sage.
