  • The Scene:

It's not you're usual Cannes eatery; in fact, there's not a single swag of white drapery or silver-plated champagne bucket in sight. Located in a step-down space near the Forville Market a few streets in for La Croisette, the former sous chef of the Martinez's La Palme d'Or has created a rustic bistro with seasonal locally-sourced menu that's the talk of Cannes. Arranged along a set-back sidewalk from the main road, a narrow terrace offers additional tables for those not lucky enough to score a spot in the dining room. Inside, old stone and brick walls surround a series of cozy tabletop free of fluff or formality with low-back bentwood chairs covered in handmade quilted cushions. A series of interconnecting rooms conjoined by cement archways has the style of an old Provencal farmhouse with glimpses of the dashing 30-year old chef in action.

  • The Food:

An almost daily changing seasonal menu reflects local availability of key ingredients utilized by chef Ludovic Ordas. The Boudreaux-native cooks-up a refreshingly pure menu of homemade pates accompanied by locally-sourced seasonal vegetables and presentations of delicate dorado with eggplant caviar and grilled lamb dishes good enough to merit its first Michelin-star in April 2011.
