  • The Scene:

It’s little secret that Budapest loves anything that has to do with Hollywood, hence the cult-like popularity of its Nobu outpost located within the Germanic refined Corvinus Kempinski Hotel midway between the Chain Bridge and the Financial District. A sexy space with its own streetfront entrance off the hotel lobby is flanked in marble leading to a pan-Asian dining room wrapped in artistic Oriental screens with silhouettes of sculptural trees. A long sushi bar with 10-or-so seats is less popular than in the US or Japan, with locals preferring a seat in the main room with its circular tables with room for eight or more comfy Lounge Bar with separate cocktail and appetizer menu that stays open till 2am on weekends.

  • The Food:

Nobu’s first outpost in Central Europe, the Budapest eatery offers a bar and dining room menu with additional lunchtime service unique to the location. Cold appetizers like miso chips with salmon, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeno and lobster ceviche with butter lettuce are some of the best seafood presentations found in the capital city. Nobu tacos with shrimp and cauliflower with dressing are also new found treats. Main dishes stick with the Nobu mantra from Wagyu beef specials to Rock Shrimp Tempura or full dinner options that aim to educate the novice sushi eater.
