The Scene:
Once known simply as the Martinez Beach Club, Z-Plage has revolutionized the beach club concept of South France with a designer outdoor lounge and restaurant along La Croisette. Comprised of a terrace gourmet restaurant, cabana lounge and redesigned pier, the beach club features a sexy and glamorous scene to enjoy winter lunches and late summer dinners. The décor mixes teak wood furnishings with panels of glass and white drapes amongst hundreds of angular white umbrellas. The crowd varies between well-financed Russian women to ultra-bronze French playboys rolling between St. Tropez and Monaco in their vintage sports cars. During the summer months, the Givenchy Spa sets up several private treatment cabanas on the beach for private massages and signature facials within a splash of the Mediterranean Sea.
The Food:
Located on the largest private beach in Southern France, A few steps away, on the other side of the Croisette, Z-Plage a health-conscious menu of market-fresh ingredients and organic grown produce. The all-day menu includes a tropically inspired selection of cocktails including signature Moet-mimosas, gin-fizzes and the occasional margarita. An array of spring salads and fresh fruit dishes put a global spin on an otherwise traditional lunch menu. Chef Frederic Greffet has concocted menus featuring flavors from the Hinterland evident with fish and meat cooked in a clay oven that really brings out the flavors.
Last Word:
Mattress service, aka lounge rental, is still available for a hefty fee with pier seating still the costliest on the beach.
