An "I Love You" to Marcel Wanders who creates a Miami brasserie and lounge sexy enough to compete with the catwalk of Ford and Wilhelmina models currently passing through the doors of the Mondrian Miami. The space is still uniquely dazzling from its offbeat West Street location overlooking Biscayne Bay. A bright and airy space redraws the typical South Beach high-rise into a minimalist wonderland of floor-to-ceiling windows and terrazzo floors thrown with antique Moroccan rugs endless decorator fluff. Furnishings are a mishmash of British Colonial canopy chairs, tufted-leather bistro chairs and long banquettes conducive 12am dinner parties of Miami's chic-set.

The Food

In a city that shows up to dinner without necessarily wanting to eat, Caffe Mondrian is the perfect restaurant for those that wish to enjoy their meal through some kind of straw. The restaurant offers an exotic menu of house specialties including that begins with seafood appetizers like the calamari salad with chayote, hearts of palm, banana and radicchio in a sesame orange dressing. Seafood lovers indulge further in Tunapica, a tuna tartare with Spanish olives, black currants and coconut in a soy-lime vinaigrette. Larger appetites discover Palomillo of Marinated Lamb, Miso-Cured Alaskan Butterfish in a tempura-battered shisito pepper and Lobster Mai-Tai with coconut red curry.
